Real Life Begins

Tommy is starting his career with Procter & Gamble today. It is very exciting. And very surreal. There are no more excuses now...we are real adults (even if we don't feel like it).

The past month has been a fast-paced, exciting, and fun blur. We have been together almost all the time basically since our Arizona trip at the beginning of April. When we got home from that trip, Tommy still had a few things to do for school and work, but he was mostly done. He spent significantly more time at home and with us (which was awesome). Then when classes were officially over, we went on our house finding trip to Cincinnati and came home for finals week. We typically spend more time together during finals week since there aren't any classes, but since Tommy hardly had finals this semester and was done with work, we spent even more time together. Then he graduated, we had a few days left in Utah, we moved across the country touring church history sites along the way, got settled here, and had two weeks before his start date (today). So we have been together almost 24/7 for the last month. It has been a lot of fun.

In our two weeks here before he started, we got lots of time to relax. We worked on getting the house set-up and organized, did some shopping, read books, watched movies, got a membership to the awesome Cincinnati zoo, drove around exploring our town, went to the Columbus temple, and indulged in Graeter's Ice Cream (its famous in Ohio and delicious). It has seriously been so much fun.

Tommy made my Mother's Day yesterday really special. When Tommy was young, his mom jokingly created the Tommy Montoya Fan Club. I learned about it when we were first married and read the charter she had written and died laughing. So on Facebook, I put my job as President of the Tommy Montoya Fan Club. Recently we were joking about it. Yesterday for Mother's Day he surprised me by creating the Mommy Montoya Fan Club (MMFC). Him and Bradley are co-presidents and they created the MMFC Super-Pack. Inside was a coupon book, hand prints from each of them with why they are thankful for me, a roll of thin mint cookies, a card, and a beautiful sapphire necklace and earring set. I was so surprised and it was absolutely perfect. I love kits and themed presents and their personal touches on the gifts were so so perfect. It made me laugh and feel like a million bucks. They also brought me a parfait in bed and Tommy made roast for dinner. I love them so much and am so grateful I get to be Bradley's mom. He is amazing.

Seriously loved this! And for some reason it really cracked me up that he used a bunch of yellow yarn to stuff the box. It added to the charm.

So anyways, after a month of a lot of fun, we are jumping into real life today. Tommy was excited and anxious this morning as he left. After being together so much, it will be a weird adjustment. He told me yesterday that he will probably "go through Jill Yin withdrawals". I'm having to keep myself busy today so I don't think about how quiet and lonely the house is. But we are so excited. We are ready for this stage and are overwhelmed with how many blessings we have received.
